Local Flavor
By Michelle | October 24, 2007
Reading back through my last few months of entries, I realized that I’ve lost touch with what’s happening locally. Maybe that’s why the Washington Post keeps sending me advertisements asking for my subscription…. But joke aside, I really haven’t been doing all that much around the WMA this fall. Somehow I intend to find the time (and motivation) to remedy this problem. After all, why spend the money to live near DC and not take advantage of what the city has to offer?
I dove over to Roosevelt Island yesterday and re-discovered scenes from my youth–I was too young to remember, but I’ve seen a photo series my mom took of me playing with a ball around the memorial’s fountains. It’s interesting how clearly you can see the Georgetown waterfront across the Potomac River when you look out from the island’s edge. The Georgetown University bells chime as clearly if you were standing beneath Healy Tower on campus.
